Development of an international theatre network for the Kurdish Amed City Theatre in Diyarbakir (Amed)/ Turkey.
multicultural city e.V. is supporting in collaboration with the Martin-Roth-Initiative artists from Diyarbakir/Amed with expertise and networking. The aim of this project is to establish a theater network for the City Amed Theater and to enhance the qualifications of the two artists.
This initiative is funded by the ifa – Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen e.V.

Berfin Emektar Akkuzu
Berfin Emektar was born in 1979 in Bingöl/Turkey. In 1996, she began her work in the theater group Şanoya Hevî, which is affiliated with the MKM in Izmir. From 2004 to 2008 she continued her work at the Teatra Jîyana Nû in Istanbul. 2002 Award for best actress at the Kurdish Theater Festival in Wuppertal. In 2009 she continued working at the Diyarbakır Municipality Theater. Since 2017, she has been working as an actress, director and manager at the Amed Municipal Theatre
Yavuz Akkuzu
“I completed my architecture degree at Dicle University in 2007. During my architecture studies, I was accepted into the acting school of Diyarbakir Municipal Theater in 2003. I have been working as a professional actor at the Municipal Theater since 2005. In addition to my professional work as an actor, I studied “Theater History and Theory” at Ankara DTCF University from 2010 to 2015. In 2015, I worked as a lecturer at Aram Tigran Conservatory Diyarbakır and Cegerxwîn City Conservatory in the subjects of theater history and acting. In 2015, I published a book titled “Kurdish Theater History”. In February 2017, I became one of the founders of Amed Municipal Theater with 15 actors. In my almost 20 years of theater experience, I have actively participated in Kurdish theater productions, trained young theater artists, produced written sources, created foundations for mother tongue art education and designed new art spaces in Diyarbakır. I currently work as an actor, theater educator and manager at Amed Municipal Theater.” Nominated actor for the international “Adana Golden Boll Film Festival”, Adana/Turkey.
