A fascinating play that moves between farce and tragedy and illuminates the complex masquerades of existence. It raises the question: How many masks do we wear in the game of life?
In a world where the struggle for equality and identity takes center stage, gripping stories of characters struggling with their inner conflicts and outer constraints unfold.
With a mix of humor and profound moments, audiences are challenged to reflect on the facets of their own identity and question the absurdities of societal norms. Let yourself be carried away by this unique play that will make you laugh and think.
Pirandello wrote The Rules of the Game in 1918. The plot is centred on an intricate love triangle involving Leone Gala, his wife Silia and her lover Guido Venanzi. Leone, a detached and rational philosopher, accepts his wife Silia’s infidelity with apparent indifference, living separately from her though in the same apartment, in a sort of role-play where each character acts according to the rules of the game. Silia, dissatisfied with Leone’s coldness and longing for more freedom, plots to get rid of her husband by involving her lover Guido in a plan to kill Leone. Leone, however, senses the couple’s intentions and, through clever manipulation, manages to turn the tables.
